Many banks do not offer virtual currency services themselves and can refuse to do business with virtual currency companies. In 2014, Gareth Murphy, a senior banking officer, suggested that the widespread adoption of cryptocurrencies may lead to too much money being obfuscated, blinding economists who would use such information to better steer the economy candyland casino promo codes. While traditional financial products have strong consumer protections in place, there is no intermediary with the power to limit consumer losses if bitcoins are lost or stolen. One of the features cryptocurrency lacks in comparison to credit cards, for example, is consumer protection against fraud, such as chargebacks.

Most cryptocurrencies are designed to gradually decrease the production of that currency, placing a cap on the total amount of that currency that will ever be in circulation. Hawk tuah girl cryptocurrency lawsuit
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has closed its investigation into Hailey Welch, known as the “Hawk Tuah Girl,” without pressing charges or imposing sanctions related to the $HAWK token collapse.
The sudden tank caused a flood of backlash from Welch’s fans, with one person calling her out as they wrote: «I am a huge fan of Hawk Tuah but you took my life savings. I purchased your coin $Hawk that you were so excited about with my life savings and children’s college education fund as well.»
Providing a grievance link, she added, “I am fully cooperating with and am committed to assisting the legal team representing the individuals impacted, as well as to help uncover the truth, hold the responsible parties accountable, and resolve this matter. If you have experienced losses related to this, please contact Burwick Law using the link below.”
Named in the suit are: Tuah The Moon Foundation, which was used to handle money taken in from the sale of the meme coin, and the coin’s creator, OverHere Ltd and its executive, Clinton So and the meme coin’s Los Angeles-based promoter, Alex Larson Schultz.
Haliey Welch, a Tennessee native who was launched to internet stardom this summer thanks to a street interview in which she pantomimed spitting during oral sex (thus earning the onomatopoeiec nickname “Hawk Tuah Girl“), managed the rare feat of remaining in the spotlight for months after her viral breakout. She founded an animal charity, racked up millions of social media followers, went to the top of the charts with her podcast Talk Tuah, and even threw out the opening pitch at a Mets game. She was America’s sweetheart, and it seemed that she was here to stay.
In a now-deleted interview, Welch previously expressed regret over her crypto endeavors. She admitted her knowledge of cryptocurrency was limited and that she didn’t fully understand what she was getting involved with.

This has led some, including YouTube cryptocurrency investigator Coffeezilla, to accuse Ms Welch of scamming investors with a «pump and dump» – where the people behind a coin hype up its price before launch, then sell it for profit.
Welch became famous after she was filmed by YouTube creators using the onomatopoeic phrase «hawk tuah» to describe a spitting action used in a sexual context. She has since transformed her newfound fame into a successful merchandise line and the podcast Tuah Talk, where she has interviewed musician Wiz Khalifa and Shark Talk investor Mark Cuban.
Welch’s last post about this on December 20 on X / Twitter said: «I take this situation extremely seriously and want to address my fans, the investors who have been affected and the broader community.
It’s been a minute since Welch, who completely inexplicably rode a single viral moment of TikTok fame to internet stardom, has spoken about…well, anything. Up until December 4, she went about her usual business, which included posting episodes of her Talk Tuah podcast and heavily promoting $HAWK coin at just about every turn on Twitter. Once $HAWK officially launched, the bottom seemed to fall out.
OverHere, the platform for $HAWK token, said: «We believed in that vision so much that pushed harder and harder, perhaps through rose-tinted glasses and naivety about others’ intentions, even as the project began to unravel.»
